Mr L Goodenough
Headteacher
My name is Lee Goodenough and I have had the pleasure and privilege of leading Kingsteignton School since September 2024.
I am a passionate educator and have been working in primary education for eighteen years, thirteen of which have been spent in leadership roles. Prior to my appointment at Kingsteignton, I served as a Deputy Headteacher for nine years.
Throughout my time as a leader in education, I have been inspired by educationalists such as Rita Pierson and Paul Dix as well as inspirational individuals such as Floyd Woodrow, Simon Sinek and James Clear, all of whom have enthused and influenced me with their work and helped shape me as both a leader and a person.
Within the school, I foster a culture where positive relationships underpin our approach and where children are actively encouraged to take risks within their learning. We inspire a ‘1% better every day’ mentality and encourage pupils to strive for greatness.
My key goal as headteacher at Kingsteignton School is to produce individuals who go on to positively contribute to society and who are fully prepared for the challenges of secondary education and later life. In everything I do, I aim to ensure that all pupils leaving our school do so having received a primary education that will support them in fulfilling their potential and leading a great life.
Dr H Lambert
Co-chair of Governors
My name is Dr. Helen Lambert. I am a mum to three children at Kingsteignton School: one in Year 4 and two in Year 1.
In my professional life, I am a freelance animal welfare scientist, which means I work with charities, governments, universities and businesses all over the world to improve the lives of animals.
I volunteered to become a school governor because I feel very passionate about the experiences my children have during these important school years; being a governor is a way to support the school and them.
Grace Williams
Co-chair of Governors
I’m Grace, mum to two children at the school (Year 1 and 6) with a third already having been through Kingsteignton School and now at Teign School.
I am the founding Director of The Fourth CIC, a local organisation that supports families in the first year after birth. I am also Strengthening Communities Trust Leader for a Multi Academy Trust in Devon, leading their community engagement strategy across their family of schools.
My children love being part of Kingsteignton School and I wanted to give back to the school by supporting them as a governor.
Amy Davey
Co-opted governor
I’m Amy Davey and I have two children at Kingsteignton School.
I have been part of the PTFA for the last four years and thoroughly enjoy helping with events so the children can make the best memories at school.
I’m a Physiotherapist by background, working as the therapy lead for the stroke and neuro rehab team.
I’m extremely passionate about my children’s education and their life at school. I hope my first-hand experience of the challenges of working in the public sector will come in useful in the school governor role.
James Fisher
Co-opted governor
I’m James and I am the father of two children at the school.
I am a chartered tax advisor with over ten years of experience in the industry. I work for a firm of accountants who are one of the biggest auditors for Multi Academy Trusts in the country.
I believe it’s important to be able to contribute to supporting the school to maintain high standards and provide the best education possible for all children.
Joanna Draper
Co-opted governor
I’m Jo Draper and my only child is in Year 2 at Kingsteignton School.
Professionally, I am the Manager of a holiday cottage, wedding and event business. With over twenty years’ experience in hospitality, I have a broad knowledge in finance, budgets, health & safety compliance, risk assessments, recruitment and training.
I’m proud to volunteer as a co-opted governor as I feel supporting the school is the best way I can ensure my child and his peers are getting the best possible education and, crucially, the strongest foundation for their future.
Anna Sitko
Parent governor
I am Anna and I am delighted to have joined the governing body at Kingsteignton School as a parent governor. With children currently in Year 3 and Year 5, I am deeply invested in the success and wellbeing of the school community.
I have worked in education throughout my career, spanning the secondary, further education and university sectors.
I am passionate about supporting the school to be the very best it can be, ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive both academically and personally.
Chantal Hamer
Parent governor
I am Chantal, a parent of two children, one of whom is currently in Year 1 at Kingsteignton School.
I currently work in administration and also have previous experience working in SEN education; this has given me valuable insight into the importance of supporting all children to achieve their full potential.
Outside of work, I enjoy walking and spending time outdoors as I believe being active and connected with nature plays a key role in wellbeing and development.
I became a governor at Kingsteignton School because I want to play an active role in supporting the school community. I am passionate about helping to ensure that every child has access to the best opportunities and experiences during their time here, and I hope my skills and background can make a positive contribution to the school’s ongoing success.
Lucy Evans
Staff Governor
I began my time at Kingsteignton School in 2021, having previously worked at Humpty Dumpty Childcare as a Play Leader, running wraparound care and holiday clubs. In this way, I feel I have been connected with the school community from its early days.
I have over twenty-five years’ experience in Early Years education and childcare and hold a Level 3 qualification in Early Years Care and Education. My background also includes roles supporting children with Special Educational Needs, through enabling and respite play groups, alongside attending a wide range of childcare and safeguarding training.
Within school, my roles include Buds (Breakfast & Afterschool Club) Supervisor, Lunchtime SEN support and Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) as part of the safeguarding team. I also take on additional responsibilities to support both children and colleagues, including working within the Reception class and providing admin cover, when required. Supporting Reception is particularly rewarding, as it allows me to be fully involved in the school day and get to know all of the children, which supports positive relationships within our wraparound care should they use the service.
I am passionate about learning through play and have extensive knowledge of supporting play across a wide age range. I strongly believe that play is fundamental to a happy childhood, positive mental health and overall wellbeing.
Outside of school, I am a keen runner and enjoy challenging myself through ultra-marathons and strength training. My happy place is running in nature, particularly along the Southwest Coast Path or on Dartmoor.
I chose to become a Staff Governor to support my colleagues and to bring my enthusiasm for outdoor learning and play to the governing board.
